Garden Mural
Role: Designer & Painter
Year: 2020
During lockdown, a stretch of hoarding went up next door, stark, grey, and right on a bend where people passed daily. I saw an opportunity to bring some joy. I painted directly onto the boards using bold shapes and vivid colours, transforming the blank wall into a vibrant, street-side mural. The response was instant: neighbours stopped to chat, take photos, and smile.
It became a turning point in how I think about public space and visual storytelling, a reminder that design can do more than decorate. At its best, it transforms. It lifts moods, sparks connection, and shifts how people feel in a space.
I see potential to evolve this work, into large-scale textile pieces, street flags, or striking window displays. But the intention stays the same: to create bold, emotive work that brings people together, in whatever form or setting it takes.
